I wish those articles separated out the number of people under the influence of drugs or alcohol when co-sleeping. Or even smoking since it is a known risk factor for SIDS.
Yes, exactly. Or even children left unattended for extended time, or children in unsafe living conditions in general. No one ever mentions the low rate of night time infant or child death in other countries where sleeping with children isn't condemned.
It would also be fairer to list all child deaths each year due to fire, because the child wasn't in close proximity to parents / rescue.
One of my kids had a onsie that said "cage free baby" and it had a picture of a baby in a crib. lol.
